As we move into 2025, one thing remains clear: uncertainty looms large for the NAND market. Major OEMs and data center companies continue to express caution about what the year might hold, signaling a more tempered outlook than previously anticipated. Coming out of CES a couple of weeks ago, and following subsequent discussions, it has become evident that while purchase TAMs for major market segments this calendar year are expected to grow, the extent of that growth compared to 2024 remains a key question. The industry is bracing for fluctuations, and much of the year’s direction will depend on evolving market dynamics and customer confidence.
Over the next few weeks, as shipment data from the previous quarter becomes available, we will analyze those numbers alongside short-term expectations across various markets including PC, mobile, enterprise (particularly AI-driven purchases), and data center expansions. Most industry suppliers continue to work hard to achieve higher NAND shipments this year than last, fueled specifically by strengthening demand in certain sectors. While challenges persist, the hope is that careful planning and adaptability will drive steady growth. Fingers crossed!
